Telford Business Club are celebrating the Olympic Games in July by having a special guest speaker at our July network meeting – former Olympian and World Championship medalist Ainsley Bennett.
Ainsley represented Great Britain at the 1976 Olympic Games held in Montreal where he reached the semi-finals of the men’s 200m sprint race, as well as being one of the men’s 4 x 400m relay team.
In the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1983 World Athletics Championships in Helsinki Ainsley and his fellow team-mates took the bronze medal in a time of 3:03.53, finishing behind the Soviet Union and West Germany.
Ainsley ran for Birchfield Harriers, the UK’s top athletics club, and he continues to play an active role in the club through his roles as Trustee and Chair of Finance.
