Leaders of Telford’s oldest networking club today vowed to attract a record breaking number of members as they launched a new “tour of the world” for 2013.
Terry Le Long, chairman of Telford Business Club, said the club had now decided to share business further by supporting a different venue every month.
The tour will be “kicked-off”on Tuesday (NOV 13th) at AFC Telford United’s ground the New Bucks Head where England Under-19s will take on Under-19’s from Finland. The meeting starts at 6pm and includes a hot meal and networking opportunities before kick-off and during half-time.
Mr Le Long, of NLS Shropshire, said: “During 2012 we have held our meetings at one venue but we have decided to travel to business owners from all across the borough so we can get a flavour of the businesses in each area.
“This means we will be holding our monthly meeting at a different venue every month and will be kicking it off with Chinese New Year in January.
“This really is Telford Business Club on tour where we will try and visit, or at least enjoy cuisine, from all around the world.”
Business owners from across Shropshire and beyond travelled to hear the Battle of Britain war veterans speak which resulted in a record-breaking meeting with more than 75 guests.
“We know a great speaker is a big draw at any networking club and it makes it an enjoyable and informative evening but what is vital is that every member passes business on to others and that is what we do.
“We offer the chance for business owners to take away new skills and advice from every meeting which will help them enhance their company.
“Business is really booming in Telford with new start-ups to existing businesses expanding and at Telford Business Club we welcome all,” Mr Le Long said.
The programme of speakers for 2013 is being finalised but already includes Shropshire Business Today magazine editor Sarah-Jane Smith, Fay Easton, director at Enterprise Hubs and founder of Start-Up Shropshire and Claire Dowdall of Cloud 10 Marketing.
The new membership package for Telford Business Club includes a 10-minute speaker slot to promote their business at a meeting, company marketing material on display at every meeting, a free press release on their company on joining the club and a quarterly prize for the company who gives the most referrals.
Anyone who joins before the end of January can join at 2012 prices of £120 for the year to include a hot meal at every meeting on the second Tuesday of the month instead of the 2013 price of £150. Telford Business Club does not charge an additional monthly fee and does not request people to send a substitute.
